The game just got a whole lot more intense as a shocking betrayal sent a contestant packing immediately in the latest episode of BBC's 'The Traitors'!
With only one episode left in this nail-biting reality competition, the drama is reaching its peak. The penultimate episode, which aired on January 22nd, saw a swift and unexpected exit that left viewers on the edge of their seats.
For much of the game, Rachel had managed to stay relatively unnoticed by the Faithfuls, a clever tactic that kept her safe. However, her luck ran out when Faraaz, who had been contemplating who to target for murder, turned his attention to her. Faraaz recalled that the recently banished Traitor Fiona rarely engaged in one-on-one conversations, and since Fiona had previously pulled Rachel aside, Faraaz began to suspect Rachel was a Traitor. He voiced these suspicions directly to his fellow players and to Rachel herself.
But here's where it gets controversial: while Faraaz was being considered by the Traitors for a potential murder, it was revealed that Stephen and Rachel had made a surprising decision. Instead of targeting Faraaz, they chose to murder Roxy, a move that inadvertently implicated James.
This all unfolded after a tense Round Table discussion where Matthew was banished. James had been instrumental in leading the charge against Matthew. He had been given a significant advantage – two votes – by the Traitors, but his strong insistence on using these votes against Matthew only served to heighten suspicion among the other players about his own allegiance.
Upon discovering her fate at the hands of the Traitors, Roxy expressed her sincere hope that Stephen and Rachel would go on to win the show, as she genuinely believed they were both Faithful. She shared, "I'm so proud of myself for getting this far. I would love for Stephen or Rachel to win. I think they're both amazing people and I think they, hopefully, are being Faithful and honest throughout the process but honestly, it has been a ball."
And this is the part most people miss: despite an earlier agreement among the Traitors not to vote for each other, Rachel and Stephen found themselves in a difficult position. In the privacy of the turret, they acknowledged that with the dwindling number of players, they could no longer shield each other from the Faithfuls' scrutiny. Stephen, eager to get ahead, was quick to mention Rachel's name to Jack at breakfast, signaling a shift in their alliance.
Fans will have to tune in tomorrow night, January 23rd, for the grand finale of Series 4, where either the Traitors or the Faithfuls will claim the coveted prize pot. The final episode, Episode 12, will air slightly later than usual at 8:30 PM, followed by 'The Traitors: Uncloaked,' where the winner will be interviewed.
