Unveiling the Stigma: A Mental Health Podcast from Cambridgeshire
Uncover the truth behind the veil of mental health stigma in Cambridgeshire with our new podcast, 'Side by Side'.
In a groundbreaking initiative, the first episode of the podcast features Gary Clarke, a former prison officer turned mental health advocate, and Allan Hughes, CPSL Mind's co-production lead. These two mental health champions are breaking new ground by supporting fathers through CPSL Mind's perinatal services, including the Andy's Man Club in Peterborough. Clarke, in his role as a Perinatal Project Dads Worker at CPSL Mind, is now dedicated to supporting dads across Cambridgeshire.
Clarke shares his insights, stating, "Life can be tough, and men often feel the pressure to provide, but we're here to break that taboo. Mental health is about being the best version of yourself, not the best version others expect."
Hughes adds, "These discussions are raw, real, and timely. We're proud to collaborate with CPSL Mind to make mental health support more accessible and approachable."
The 'Side by Side' podcast will be available on CPSL Mind's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@cpslmind5837), offering a platform for future episodes that will cover youth mental health and other local initiatives. The CPSL Mind team will also be present at Cambridge United Football Club on February 14th, supported by the Cambridge United Foundation, showcasing their ongoing commitment to community mental health.
But here's where it gets controversial... Are we doing enough to support men's mental health? What can we do to break down the barriers and encourage more open conversations? We want to hear from you! Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below.
