Wolverhampton Wanderers have accepted an offer from Crystal Palace for the talented forward, Jorgen Strand Larsen, amounting to £43 million, with an additional £5 million contingent on performance-related add-ons. This news, reported by The Athletic, indicates that the bid was made earlier on Sunday and there was a significant likelihood of its acceptance.
Earlier this week, The Athletic highlighted ongoing discussions between the two clubs, suggesting that Palace was nearing a verbal agreement for the player at a fee of around £45 million (approximately $62.1 million), plus the potential £5 million in add-ons. Notably, agent Jorge Mendes has been facilitating these negotiations on behalf of Wolves.
The addition of Norway international Strand Larsen would significantly enhance Palace's attacking lineup, particularly as AC Milan is actively pursuing a deal for Jean-Philippe Mateta before the transfer window closes on Monday. Mateta's absence from the squad set to face Nottingham Forest on Sunday, as noted by manager Oliver Glasner, underscores his current unavailability due to personal circumstances.
At the beginning of the transfer window, Strand Larsen was identified as one of the key targets for Forest, while Leeds United also showed interest in acquiring the 25-year-old. In December, West Ham United expressed their interest before opting to sign other players, specifically Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe. Additionally, Newcastle United had proposals of £50 million and £55 million turned down by Wolves during the summer window, with the club emphasizing Strand Larsen's significance and the challenges in finding a suitable replacement if he were sold.
In September, Wolves secured Strand Larsen with a new five-year contract after initially signing him permanently for €27 million following a loan spell from Celta Vigo during the 2024-25 season. So far this season, he has netted six goals across all competitions, although only one of these has been scored in the Premier League.
Currently placed 15th in the Premier League, Crystal Palace sits eight points clear of the relegation zone, making this potential acquisition all the more critical.

Bringing him on board would likely facilitate Mateta's exit, ultimately resulting in a manageable financial outcome when considering the fees involved. Mateta, currently their leading scorer with eight goals in the league, necessitates a capable replacement, especially given Palace’s struggles to find the back of the net during an ongoing 11-match winless streak across all competitions. Mateta has notably been underperforming in that regard.
